One Bernam – Climate Change Impact on Bernam River Streamflow

One bernam is a new mixed development located at Bernam Street in the heart of Singapore. A brand new condo, it offers residents the luxuries of living well. Its location near Tanjong Pagar MRT Station will provide residents with supreme connectivity, with the city centre at their doorstep.

Streamflow in the Bernam River basin is important for paddy irrigation and downstream water use. It is high during the wet season and low during dry seasons. During the latter period, reports on water shortages and rationing are common. This study explores the impact of future climate change on the Bernam River flow to inform planning and management of future water allocations.

Historical gridded hydro-meteorological data were used to setup the SWAT model for the base-year period (1976–2005). Sensitivity analysis was performed to guide the calibration process and to identify parameters that have significant influence on the Bernam riverflow. The SWAT-CUP parallel processing option was installed to accelerate the simulation process.

The Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) has put a residential-with-commercial site at Bernam Street up for tender last week. It is on the Government Land Sales (GLS) confirmed list and has a site area of around 41,400 square feet (sq ft) or 3,846.2 sq m.
