Macro Decisions
League of Legends is a fast-paced game that can appear to be brutally unforgiving. While mechanics define micro, macro is the high-level decision making that allows players to gain the biggest edge over their opponents.
Macro concepts include things like map awareness (watching enemy movements, tracking wards and knowing when to recall), lane priority and the timing of skirmishes, as well as objective control such as securing rift heralds, dragons and turrets. Additionally, it includes generating pressure throughout the map. This could be anything from your top lane champion pushing the wave and securing a gold lead to your jungler ganking bot lane and gaining experience for the team.
Understanding these macro concepts requires both mechanical skill and strategic knowledge. It can be difficult for newer players to grasp but mastering them will drastically improve your gameplay. Learning core concepts like timing windows is the first step in this process. Then, practice with purpose, setting macro goals for yourself and tracking your progress.
Champion Selection
