Explosion-Proof Actuators

Designed for use in hazardous environments, explosion-proof actuators ensure the safety of your processes and personnel. Incorporated fail-safe features shift systems to a safe position when power is cut to prevent sparks that could ignite flammable airstreams.

Schischek electric explosion proof actuators offer rotary quarter-turn ‘Max’ actuators for ball and butterfly valves as well as linear ‘Run’ for dampers, globe and control valves. All are certified to work in Ex zones 0, 1, 2, 21, and 22 for gases, vapours, mists and dust.
EL100

The diminutive EL100 is a full-featured flash hidden in a tough, tiny package. It weighs in at just 190g and is Class I, Division 1, Group B, C, D, T4, T3A temperature rated. It uses advanced roller screw technology to deliver up to 15 times longer travel life than competing ball screw solutions and also achieves faster position control, greater load capacity, and lower emissions.

The EL100 has all the essential features for serious flash photography, including bounce capability, both horizontal and vertical, manual zoom head, and a’set it and forget it’ auto mode. It is capable of both optical wireless communication (CTL) and high-speed sync, as well as offering stroboscopic and 2nd curtain capabilities. It has a modest guide number of 26 at 50mm and recycles in about 3 seconds when using NiMH batteries. It is compatible with Canon EOS-1D X Mark II, 1Ds Mark III, 5D Mark IV and 7D Mark II cameras.
Group 57

The Group 57 is an explosion proof valve actuator that can reset to a fail-safe position in the event of a power failure. It is ideal for use in remote environments where explosive gases are present. It can be powered by AC, DC or solar power. It is also easy to maintain and can be used in areas with limited access. It can be fastened to the vehicle with top mounted hold down straps/bars or gripped by any of its Wedge Feet flanges. It can be connected electrically in parallel, which increases voltage and current capacity. This helps reduce charging time and allows the batteries to be recharged quickly.
Pneumatic

Pneumatic actuators use compressed air to convert energy into mechanical motion for controlling or moving systems in plumbing applications. They are available in a range of sizes, shapes and force capacities depending on the application. These actuators are easy to use and require minimal maintenance. They are also suitable for high-temperature applications.

A morphological approach is introduced for achieving linear movements of a soft pneumatic actuator (SPA) by altering its geometric parameters. Origami-inspired SPAs with accordion and Yoshimura patterns were able to produce high contraction ratios and blocking forces under vacuum pressure.

Traditional sensors cannot meet the wide range of movement capabilities needed by SPAs, which requires an accurate and reliable way to monitor their performance. Using one-shot multi-material 3D printing, a conductive material that exhibits changes in resistivity as a function of bending and force was embedded into the SPAs. This sensor approach enables a simple and cost-efficient design for future SPA-based sensory devices.
