Kanye West’s new album Ye is filled with high profile artists, but one unfamiliar name stood out. 070 Shake is a 20 year old from New Jersey who burst on to the scene with her contributions on the outro of ”Ghost Town.” She has received widespread acclaim from fans and critics with her captivating voice, and amazing energy. Since the song’s release, Shake has seen a big spike in google searches and is the topic of discussion throughout the music world. What many don’t know is Shake contributed to Pusha T’s Daytona on the track titled “Santeria.” She sung the chorus in Spanish and displayed her versatility as an artist.
So the million dollar question is how did she end up a member of the G.O.O.D. music camp? A close friend of hers YesJulz is a close friend of Travis Scott who is connected with Kanye’s crew. Like any great friend would Julz played Shake’s music during a Yeezy fitting, and it sparked Pusha-T’s interest. In 2016 G.O.O.D. music members Pusha-T, Desiigner showed up at her show in N.Y.C. at S.O.B.S. and the rest is history.
Since then Shake has released around 20 tracks on Soundcloud, both on her own and with other members of her crew. Last year she dropped her EP, Glitter that featured standout tracks ”Proud”, ”Trust Nobody”, ”Honey” and ”Sunday Night.” Her highly anticipated debut album Yellow Girl, is due out next year. In January of this year, she told Billboard that she “was kind of in a funk when I was writing Yellow Girl. I worked on Yellow Girl when I was in that phase where I was doing all the stuff that I talked about in Glitter that I wanted to break free form. It’s kind of backwards on how my life was really going.” With a pair of high-profile guest features on DAYTONA and ye (and potentially more to come on upcoming G.O.O.D. Music releases), 070 Shake is definitely an artist to watch in 2018.
